Tea Time

I'm taking a break from cleaning my room and sitting in my "own little corner, in my own little chair" enjoying a cinnamon raisin bagel and a pot of Vanilla Roiboos Tea (from SereneTeaz). My beautiful red teapot (a gift from my mother) is sitting on my new beautiful tea tray with it's unique and personal mosaic design (also a gift from my mother). I'm watching Pride & Prejudice (the mini-series with Jenifer Ehle & Colin Firth) and at this moment, Life is Good!

While I was signing up for my cake decorating courses today at Joann Fabric, I also stumbled across the most glorious magazine: "Tea Time" (I think that I will soon have a subscription to this magazine as well). It was full of recipes and ideas for celebrating, well you guessed it, tea. Anyway, as I was reading about all of these tea sandwiches and delectable dishes an idea formed in my head. I have no idea when or where I would do this, but how cool would it be to run a combination cakery & tea shop. Combine something like SereneTeaz with a shop that sells custom cakes and tea sandwiches and scones and muffins and cookies and and and...

And maybe, if I cannot do it professionally, then I want to do it from my own home, for my friends. It is something that I have done in the past. I remember well an afternoon spent with two of my good friends in High School where I invited them over for an afternoon tea on the front porch and then we played croquet afterwards. We had ice tea, cucumber sandwiches and trifle. It was a beautiful afternoon.

There was an article in the Tea Time magazine about a lady who does an annual Valentine's Day tea for the women of her church/her group at her church. It made me want to do this for my own friends. Now, I may not be able to do a Afternoon Tea this year but Jenny and I will be attempting a party around Valentine's Day (the weekend thereafter) and plan on making food out of the Dining Room cookbook "It Takes More Than A Chef" and out of Victoria as well.

We want to have some friends over for dinner and games afterwards. I do believe that if we can get the house cleaned it will be a beautiful night. AND it's a wonderful excuse for Jenny and I to do the cooking we are always talking about doing, but never do.

One of the fun quotes that I found in the Tea Time magazine is this: "A woman is like a tea bag - you don't know how strong she is until she gets in hot water." ~Eleanor Roosevelt (I like that)
